- Yvie Oddly exclusively chats with EW about a recent event she touted as her "quitting drag."

- She also reveals why she wants fans to "forget I ever said I was disabled" on the show.**

*RuPaul's Drag Race* winner Yvie Oddly is quitting drag — just kidding, no she's not.

One day after shocking the *Drag Race* fandom with an event flier for an Aug. 22 yard sale in Denver that touted she was at the tail end of her drag career, the season 11 champion and *All Stars 7* contestant exclusively tells ** it was all a bit, albeit one with pointed intention.

In the interview below, Yvie reveals to EW the poignant reason behind why she wanted to troll *Drag Race* fans with the announcement, gives an update on her relationship with comedian Nicole Byer after some recent podcast drama, and explains her stance on publicly revealing her Ehlers–Danlos syndrome connective tissue disorder, and why it makes her wish fans would "forget I ever said I was disabled."

****: Are you quitting drag?**

**YVIE ODDLY:** Not any more than I already have, no! I think it's a hilarious when — no shade to every diva who believes in her heart that she's quitting — a queen is like, "I'm quitting drag." No you're not, bitch. You might not be gigging as much, you might keep a secret pair of heels in the closet. But, look at all the queens who've quit. Phi Phi/Jaremi, still does drag [through cosplay]. Tyra Sanchez quit, came back, and quit again. Y'all can't get a queen to quit drag if you wanted to. Sherry Pie still has a career. The only way a queen quits drag is through death.

**Why did you troll people with the flier?**

Because it was better than bitching at them for removing me from the messages that have already spread, which is that I just went along with what people were already saying. The purpose of this event is to have a yard sale. I've had one before, it's never been a big deal, but where I'm at right now, when I posted that I'm having a yard sale, people jumped to crazy conclusions about my health and quitting drag. "She's acting so erratic, clearly she's on drugs." Instead of bitching at all of these people, I decided you're all right. [*Laughs*]

**That's an interesting way to take power from fans. Queens often succumb to that pressure.**

We go on this TV show, everyone learns about us, that TV show tells our story, and that's where the story ends, because we're not constantly doing *Big Brother*, *Drag Race*-style, *watching me s--- at home *shows. Representing chronically ill people, I know a lot of folks have taken every other interview I've done about having to eventually step back in some way, and are writing the ending. Like, "I knew this day would come. That crickety old bitch is quitting drag." I'm giving them a good ending. They're just going to be disappointed when I start drag again the next day.

**You've discussed your body on and off the show, and the the flier says, "support her disabled lil cripple baby medical thingy." Where are you now on that journey?**

I was born disabled, and the rest is drag. I'm going to be a little crip queen until I die, unless we get fancy AI bodies. It's not getting better, you know? On top of being disabled, I'm dealing with this traumatic thing called aging, where everything naturally gets harder. I never let any of this stop me. I've taken the steps back from drag, but I guess people expected me to make a bigger announcement. I'm down to a couple shows a month. I'm not popping my p---y every night. I've found other ways to translate my life into the world. I wrote a book, I'm making music, hosting the *Highkey* podcast. I've already [quit drag] as much as I was ever going to.

**Anything else to add?**

I appreciate the support I get, but I'd appreciate if people would forget I ever said I was disabled. It's not because I'm ashamed, but people take that narrative and automatically apply it anywhere and everywhere. [They assume] "Why is Yvie late to the gig? It must be because she's dying of disability" or "Why isn't she doing the *Werq the World* tour anymore? Voss can't take care of her crippled, disabled body." I need people to forget I'm disabled, because *I *forget I'm disabled. I walk around every day doing whatever I want, and it's not until I *can't* do something that I'm forced to face that reality.

Everybody also isn't wrong for assuming I'm not okay. I'm not okay, because I've been a hoarder. I've been such a bad hoarder, and I've been this way my whole life…. But it's gotten to the point where it's disrupted my ability to make art. It's time to Marie Kondo my life [with this event.] I need to give it back to the community that gave me everything when I never thought I'd have this much. Yes, I'm quitting drag to start over again…. I want to see what drag I can do if I don't own any shoes.

**You said on *Give It to Me Straight *that you're psychic. Is that real?**

I probably am a little psychic. It runs in my family. The issue is I'm such a good drag queen that my gayness dampens out whatever psychic energy I would have. I'm not looking into the universe, I'm just looking at how c--t I look in this mirror.

**Can you predict who will succeed RuPaul?**

The person I feel is most likely to succeed RuPaul on *Drag Race* is the AI version of RuPaul, which World of Wonder is already working on, because I saw that Jinkx Monsoon video! AI RuPaul will only crown AI winners going forward. Ask ChatGPT now what you can wear for *Snatch Game*.

**Many girls are fighting right now. How do you feel about that?**

It's funny. This is my favorite drama tea to sip on in the morning. I think they're all rotted, vile c--ts, and that's only halfway a joke. It's strange when the notoriously loud-mouthed, s--- starting queens go at each other. We're at the end of times. We can't have our fiercest warriors out here battling each other. That being said, I'm team Willam because she's old and we should support our elders. [*Laughs*]

**Silky Nutmeg Ganache and A'keria Chanel Davenport, your season 11 sisters, also got into some drama. Have you taken a side?**

This is going to shock people, but team Silky. I love that messy bitch. She knows what she's doing. She don't give a damn. No shade to A'keria, but legitimately half of the season I forgot she was there until she finally showed up at the end.

**Did you resolve your drama with Nicole Byer?**

Yeah, we talked about it. I plan on going back to her podcast the next time I'm in L.A. I want to hash it out. It was just two divas having a diva-off, being like, "Oh my God, I can't believe this diva is doing this to me right now." I wasn't the one who was sitting pretty in my hometown a couple blocks away from where I live, so, I was very inconvenienced by *her* diva. She was clearly inconvenienced by *my* diva, since she couldn't send a production manager to the next room to talk to me. [*Laughs*] I love her. I'm really excited to talk some s--- with her, about her, *to* her, and also hear it from her. Maybe she'll be the reason I *actually* quit drag!
