Across several now-expired Instagram stories, Simmons shared information about her treatment, which is already well underway. In one expired video, Simmons noted she was scheduled to undergo several procedures on Tuesday, including something called "seed localization," a cutting-edge approach to surgery which places a tiny radioactive "seed" atop a tumor.

"They go in there and they put a marker in my breast where the tumor is. That way, when the surgeon goes in, they'll know exactly where to take the tumor out," she explained.

The next phase of her "very busy, packed morning" was the surgery itself. "I told you it's going to be kind of a long day," she playfully sighed, surrounded by Lock and her mother, Dee Simmons, who helped uplift the energy by joking the surgeons were going to "get that s--- out of there."

"It's been a long day, the patient is in resting after some surgery" Lock explained in Tuesday's video. "Just wanted to reach out to everyone and thank you for all the prayers and thoughts and good well-wishes."
