Brooke Hogan, the daughter of late wrestler Hulk Hogan and his ex-wife Linda, shared her first reaction to his death Tuesday.
The retired wrestler-turned-actor and reality TV star died July 24 at his home in Clearwater, Fla., after experiencing cardiac arrest. He was 71.
"My Dearest Daddy, You were my everything, and I will always be your girl," Brooke captioned a carousel of photos of her and her dad over the years. "I am PROUD to be your daughter—for all the love, light, and goodness you brought into this world. Thank you for choosing me in this lifetime, and for loving me so deeply."
She added, "I love you more than all the stars in the sky" and that their bond is "eternal."**
Her other post consisted of six slides of text, an emotional explanation of her relationship with her father.
She said she felt it necessary to "clear a few things up" that had been "convoluted" by the media about her relationship with Hulk, whose real name was Terry Bollea.
"We never had a 'big fight.' My father and I never 'fought,'" the 37-year-old wrote. "It was a series of private phone calls no one will ever hear, know, or understand."
She said the two had shared intimate conversations about all parts of their lives.
"I begged him to rest, to take care of himself. He had nothing else to prove to the world or anyone. My husband and I moved down to Florida to be near him. He was getting older. I wanted to be there as much as possible," Brooke noted. "We had been through almost 25 surgeries together, and then all of a sudden he didn't want me at surgeries… everything started getting covered in a thick veil. It was like there was a force field around him that I couldn't get through."

Brooke, who shares twins with husband Steven Oleksy, said that's when she began to feel a "disconnect."
She and her father had "respectful disagreements" that "took an emotional toll" on her, and, in the middle of this, had a "very complicated and scary C-section with a hard recovery."
She said it had all been difficult for her to navigate.******"During the last two years, I had to step away to protect my heart," Brooke said.**

**She noted that her husband had quietly stayed in touch with the elder Hogan, and she's read the messages they exchanged. "All of them broke my heart," she wrote.
"I know in my heart I did everything I could," she continued. "He knew I would run through a burning building for him. And in many ways, along the path of life, I did. He knows how deeply, how hard and how purely I loved him. I am at peace knowing this."

She said that, after losing her father, "My world is forever changed."
