Watch out, Carrie Bradshaw — shoe salesman Daniel is coming for your spotlight.

The latest episode o*f And Just Like That* brought Sarah Jessica Parker's longtime friend Andy Cohen back into the *Sex and the City* universe, with the *Watch What Happens Live* host making a brief cameo as a Bergdorf Goodman employee named Daniel. But quick as his appearance may have been, Cohen has revealed that it took a few tries for him to nail his single line.

"I think the line in the script was just like, 'Oh hey, Carrie, I'll be with you in a sec,'" Cohen recalled on Monday's episode of his SiriusXM radio show,* Andy Cohen Live*.

The scene is indeed quite simple: After yet another argument with her boyfriend Aidan (John Corbett), Parker's Carrie walks into Bergdorf's for some retail therapy when Daniel passes by with a stack of shoeboxes. He offers some help, to which Carrie says she's just looking. Still, it took a few adjustments for Cohen to nail the interaction.

"Shooting these shows for me is very difficult," he admitted. "You have to literally walk four steps, say your line at a particular spot, and then keep going. There's a lot of blocking involved, and I just don't — I'm not good at it."

Cohen said that after a few attempts, series creator Michael Patrick King changed the line to, "Hey, Carrie, I'm slammed, I'll be with you in a minute." But that only led to Cohen delivering his dialogue way too intensely.

"When I tell you that I was marching out like, 'Carrie, I am *slammed*! I'm gonna be with you in a minute!'" he said with emphasis. "And Michael Patrick King comes over after we do it twice and he goes, 'Um, this is a really pivotal scene for Carrie.' He didn't tell me, but now I know that she just had a big fight with Aiden."

Cohen said he was reprimanded by King, who told him, "You're stealing focus from Carrie. The episode title should now be called 'Daniel's Busiest Day.' And it's not about 'Daniel's Busiest Day,' keep it on Carrie!'"

Parker joined in too, giving Cohen some advice about how to deliver the line. "It was very specific and I was saying it in the wrong place," he recalled. "I was just a disaster. But it was so funny, the idea that it was 'Daniel's Busy Day.'"

As for the final product, Cohen quipped that it was "the best they could get."

Despite all the turmoil involved in shooting the cameo, the moment marked a sweet callback to Cohen's prior appearances in the *SATC* universe. He played a then-unnamed shoe salesman during the sixth season of the original series, whom ** has confirmed is indeed a younger version of Daniel, not yet on a first-name basis with Carrie.

But the lore goes back even further: Cohen also made a blink-and-you'll-miss-it appearance in an earlier episode.

In 2018, Cohen shared a screenshot on Instagram of his true *SATC* debut, writing, "You may know that I was a Barney's shoe salesman in the last season of #SATC but were you aware I appeared in Season 4 (I think) shirtless in a gay bar standing next to Carrie Bradshaw?"

He explained that the scene was cut from the TV version but lives on in DVD form.

There's no word on yet on whether Daniel is also Shirtless Man in Gay Bar, but Cohen joked about his character growth on Instagram, thanking King for "bringing back the BELOVED character of 'Barney's Shoe Salesman'… who is now a Bergdorf's Shoe salesman named DANIEL!"

A name and a new job? Talk about a glow-up for Daniel.
