First they returned to the stage, and now they're coming back to our screens.

12 years after *Big Time Rush* ended on Nickelodeon, star James Maslow says the band is in talks to reprise their sitcom roles in a new movie. The actor and singer — who starred alongside his bandmates Kendall Schmidt, Logan Henderson, and Carlos PenaVega in the Nick series — told the *Cincinnati Enquirer* that the project already has a script that they hope will land at Paramount+.

"There's no promises or guarantees here, but we have a script we're excited about and we've been in conversations for some time now," Maslow shared. "So I think there may be a chance that we get that green-lit and shot, maybe after this tour."

Maslow added that doing a TV show reboot is "simply a time issue," saying they opted instead to start "developing a movie."

The original series, which spanned four seasons and 74 episodes on Nickelodeon, followed the misadventures of four hockey players from Minnesota who move to Los Angeles, Calif., after being chosen by fictional mega music producer Gustavo Rocque (Stephen Kramer Glickman) to form a boy band. It ran from 2009 to 2013.

Maslow said that with Nickelodeon's "blessing," they'd like to see the movie land at Paramount+, where they can tell a "little bit of a different story" now that the cast is older.

Should the *Big Time Rush* movie come to fruition, it would be following in the footsteps of* Zoey 101 *and *iCarly*, which also mined the nostalgia of their OG series while updating the subject matter for an aged up audience. But according to Maslow, fans might notice a few other differences between the series and its movie.

"I was on *iCarly* and I got to join Miranda [Cosgrove] and the cast for the reboot as well, and it is very similar to the old show, but with swear words," he said. "Whereas our movie would touch on the old characters and show, but it'd be totally different."

During the run of their show, Schmidt, Henderson, PennaVega, and Maslow dropped three studio albums, which all made the Billboard Top 200 chart. Their biggest hits included "Boyfriend," "Halfway There," and Worldwide." They took a break after the show before getting the band back together for an anniversary event in 2020. Since then, they've toured together and begun releasing new music.

"When COVID-19 hit, and we put out a little remote, acoustic version of 'Worldwide,' we all saw such a positive reaction from people all over the world who were scared, who were uncertain − like we were − watch that and go, 'This is the happiest I've been in a long time,'" Maslow recalled. "I think that was the encouragement that we needed."

For their latest tour, *Big Time Rush in Real Life Worldwide, *the band is leaning into the way that the real and fictional versions of the band are entwined. They're performing every song from the Nickelodeon series in 50 cities worldwide, joined by Glickman and another former costar, Katelyn Tarver (who played Jo). The tour is set to conclude on December 22.**
