The ousted late-night host is thinking ahead and courting Netflix for a job after he debuted a new JD Vance parody character, "Little Prince Vance," in his monologue on the latest episode of *The Late Show.* He'll also entertain offers from Amazon Prime Video, thank you.
With his show now cancelled, Colbert made his availability known while eviscerating the vice president over reports that he ordered the military to raise the water levels in a river for a family boat trip on his birthday. "This is such an insane, spoiled baby emperor move that I have no choice but to break out my new character, Wittle Pwince Vance," he said.
The host then whipped out a cut-out of Vance's face and used it as a mask: "Hear ye, hear ye, I want my wiver waised for my birthday! Also, I don't like how blue the sky is. Paint it red. Now give me juice box!" The parody appeared to be a nod to the latest episode of *South Park*, which satirized Vance as President Donald Trump's tiny baby helper after depicting the president in bed with Satan last week.**

CBS announced the cancellation of not just Colbert's run on the show but the storied *The Late Show* franchise as a whole last month, saying the decision was financially motivated. The show bows in May 2026. Lawmakers and unions, however, have questioned the timing of the decision, citing CBS parent company Paramount's recent settlement with Trump regarding a *60 Minutes *segment with Kamala Harris. Colbert was critical of the settlement before the cancellation, calling it a "big fat bribe."
Trump, meanwhile, has gloated about the development, writing on social media that he "absolutely loves" that "Colbert got fired." He said, "His talent was even less than his ratings. Colbert, for his part, had a blunt response for the president: "Go f--- yourself."**
