Catherine Blair Bowman, the wife of former Maroon 5 bassist Mickey Madden, is seeking a restraining order against the musician, claiming that he physically assaulted her after she confronted him about "sexting with teenage girls."
According to documents filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Wednesday and reviewed by **, a judge has already granted Bowman a temporary restraining order against Madden, effective through a court date scheduled for Aug. 20. The documents note that Madden is currently staying at a rehabilitation facility.**
A representative for Madden could not be located for comment on Thursday.
Bowman claims in the request for a restraining order that she received a text message from a teenage girl on July 21 alerting her to Madden's alleged conversations with her. She says she then confronted the musician, demanding he hand over his phone after he denied the accusations. Witnessing him "quickly deleting the evidence from his phone," Bowman says she took his phone and fled their home.

Bowman further alleges in the documents that Madden then became "enraged" and began to assault her.
"He put both his arms around my body, around my abdomen and arms, to restrain me," Bowman states in the filing. "He then slammed my body against the marble kitchen counter. I felt pain in my hip and waist area. He shoved me to the ground and was out of his mind. I landed on my knees. He kept screaming for me to give him the phone. He appeared literally insane to me. I had never seen such uncontrollable anger and a completely different person."****
In the documents, Bowman details another alleged instance on May 14 in which Bowman claims that Madden "physically abused" and perpetrated "extreme emotional harm" against her.**

In screenshots of text message conversations exhibited with the request for a restraining order, a person with Mickey Madden's name seems to acknowledge the alleged conversations he conducted with teenagers.
"I am beyond sorry for my actions and for engaging in any form of expression of those impulses. It's all completely unacceptable," he seems to have written to Bowman. "But I have to draw the line at that characterization of what I did. This was entirely relegated to text. It's not excusable by any means, but I have to make it clear that I would never act on any of that consensual fantasy talk."
But "Mickey" allegedly characterized one particular conversation that included an alleged rape fantasy as "a private and fake harmless fantasy" that had "no bearing on real life at all."

Madden was previously arrested after alleged domestic assault in 2020. Two weeks later, he left Maroon 5.
"We are deeply devastated by this disappointing news," a representative for the band said in a statement at the time. "As we learn more, we are looking at this very seriously. For now, we are allowing all of the individuals involved the space to work things through."**
