UCLA's departure to the Big Ten alongside rival USC precipitated the dissolution of the Pac-12, with the league ultimately losing 10 of its 12 members.

As the Bruins struggle early in their second season in the Big Ten, their former conference isn't feeling particularly bad for them. Coach DeShaun Foster's team fell to 0-3 on the 2025 season on Friday, Sept. 12 with a stunningly lopsided 35-10 loss to New Mexico at the Rose Bowl.

In the hours after the loss, UCLA's remaining 2025 schedule was posted on social media by the X account of RedditCFB, which noted that the Bruins being able to eke out one win would be "an absolute miracle."

The Pac-12's official account took note of the post and pounced, responding with a gif of Jerry Seinfeld sarcastically saying, "That's a shame."

The idea of a winless season for the Bruins, which has never happened in program history and would have seemed unthinkable even a month ago, is a distinct possibility.

UCLA was thumped by former Pac-12 foe Utah 43-10 in its season opener in a game in which it managed just 220 total yards. The following week, it fell 30-23 on the road to UNLV.

New Mexico, which lost the overwhelming majority of its players after coach Bronco Mendenhall left for Utah State after going 5-7 in 2024, was expected to be the easiest game on UCLA's schedule, with the Bruins entering the matchup as a two-touchdown favorite. UCLA, however, surrendered 450 yards, 298 of which came on the ground.

The Pac-12 wasn't the only western-based conference to get a joke off at the Bruins' expense.

After New Mexico scored a touchdown in the second quarter to push its lead to 14-0, RedditCFB joked on social media that UCLA was reportedly exploring a move to the FCS Big Sky Conference. The Big Sky, however, wasn't having it.

"No thank you," the league responded.

At the very least, the Bruins won't have to suffer the indignity of another loss next week, as they'll be on the first of their two bye weeks.
