Could James Gunn be the next Mike White in blending the line between scripted and reality TV?
The new co-head of DC Studios is a vocal *Big Brother *superfan, and recently appeared on *Big Brother: Unlocked* as a celebrity panelist to discuss the current season of CBS' long-running reality competition series. So * *asked Gunn if he's planning to cast any of his favorite *Big Brother *players in his newly rebooted DCU in the same way that *Survivor* alum White has done with his HBO series *The White Lotus. *
"I've become very friendly with [winners] Taylor [Hale] and Derrick [Levasseur]," Gunn told EW. "And so if they want a cameo in a DC project in the future — not necessarily with dialogue, but if they want to come by and do what other people have been doing in my movies for so long, they're more than welcome to do that."**
As for what characters the reality stars could play in his interconnected movies or TV shows, Gunn doesn't want to give them the responsibility of portraying any known roles from the comics.

"I don't know if I see Derrick as necessarily somebody who would be a great actor," Gunn admitted with a laugh. "So I don't know if I see them as characters. But they could be a cashier or something."
Gunn revealed his love of *Big Brother* when he appeared on Sept. 19's episode of* Big Brother: Unlocked*, where he chatted about the current season with host Julie Chen Moonves.
"It was incredible! Talk about expect the unexpected!!!" she previously told EW about Gunn's surprise appearance. "Who knew he's been watching since season 1?! He is a true fan through and through and that really came through. I love how invested he is in the show, both time-wise and in his veins!"

In fact, it was the host herself who first pitched the idea of Gunn bringing *Big Brother* alums into the DCU.
"I would be tickled pink if the DCU had a wink and a nod to the BBU with a cameo of Taylor," she said. "Or have a scene on a Hollywood lot and you see Zingbot on a coffee break holding the head part of his costume while yucking it up with the Mastermind and Jankie."
For now, Gunn's slate is full without any *Big Brother* crossovers: *Peacemaker* season 2 is currently airing Thursdays on HBO Max, and next year's *Supergirl* is slated for release on June 26, 2026. Later, *Superman* follow-up *Man of Tomorrow* flies into theaters on July 9, 2027.
