The Bold and the Beautiful star Clint Howard insisted that he and his famous brother, Ron Howard, are just normal people despite being well-know actors.

While Clint, 66, acknowledged that both he and Ron, 71, have been able to find success as actors, the soap opera star got real about how he actually views their family's success. "I understand that, yeah, what Ron and I have done is very unique," he previously told Fox News Digital. "We're just people that make a living. We're just people that have jobs and, you know, yeah, our jobs are creative, our jobs are creative. That doesn't mean we're anything special."

In light of Clint and Ron's success, the Happy Days alum's daughter Bryce Dallas Howard has also been able to make a name for herself as an actor. However, Clint insisted that Bryce, 44, is just as great of a person as she is an actor and director.

"Bryce is a wonderful, wonderful person; great, great mother; great leader amongst her friends," Clint said of his niece. "She's directing now, and she likes to act, and she's really humble about it all."

Both Clint and Ron began their careers as child stars. While Ron was first introduced to audiences playing Opie Taylor on The Andy Griffith Show in 1960, Clint's first major role was in 1967's Gentle Ben.

In more recent years, Clint appeared in the movies The Old Way and Terrifier 3. Additionally, he guest starred as Tom Starr in 13 episodes of The Bold and the Beautiful, which earned him a nomination at the 2025 Daytime Emmy Awards in the outstanding guest performance in a daytime drama series category.

Following Clint's nomination, Ron spoke to People in September about the major accomplishment. "I know he did a good job because people come up and talk to me about his performance on that," he said of his younger brother.

"And so I saw one episode, I thought he was great," Ron continued. "And it was one of those things where they brought him in for one episode and he wound up doing 10 or 12 of them."

Ron, who has pivoted from an acting career to a directing career, was also asked if he ever gives Clint acting advice, though he said he doesn't often need it after he books a job. "Oh, no, no. He's just fun," Ron said. "When I'm casting, I'm sure he gets notes, but when I'm watching him, I'm just enjoying my brother. He's a very individual talent. Has his own cadence and vibe."

Not only did Clint earn an Emmys nomination in 2025, but so did Ron. The eldest Howard brother earned the nod for his guest starring role as a satirically temperamental version himself on The Studio. However, neither Clint nor Ron won their categories during this year's awards show.

While reflecting on his own nomination, Ron told People that it was a "fun surprise" to be included in the category.

"It never even crossed my mind because it was so beyond the realm of feasibility," he said about the nomination at the time. "So this whole thing is an absolute gift — from out of nowhere. It's really gratifying, really fun."

Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn said there was no discussion in leaving quarterback Jayden Daniels in the game, a prime-time blowout against the Seattle Seahawks in which Daniels suffered a gruesome left elbow injury.

With the benefit of hindsight, Quinn said, it could have played out differently.

"The hindsight, you don't want to think that way, where injury could take place," Quinn told reporters after the 38-14 loss. "You're more conservative in that spot, running and handoffs and not have reads to go."

Daniels had already missed three games due to injury – a knee ailment that kept him out Weeks 3 and 4, and a more-recent hamstring injury that caused him to miss the Commanders' game six days prior against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Halfway through the fourth quarter and the Commanders trailing 38-7, Daniels took a shotgun snap from the Seahawks' two-yard line. Seahawks linebacker Drake Thomas wrapped him up and flung the quarterback, listed at a generous 210 pounds. Daniels' left arm landed awkwardly and bent in a way that no arm should.

Asked if they'd handle Daniels differently in the future, Quinn mostly demurred.

"It's really important we get that part right," he said. "And we will."

The play that resulted in the injury is a run-pass option, Quinn said, but not a designed run for the quarterback. If they ran the play 50 times, then 50 times it would be a handoff or a pass, Quinn predicted.

"Just the end result, I'm bummed," Quinn said.

The Commanders fell to 3-6 with a hefty dose of standalone games through the second half of the season. They've battled the injury bug all year long. Running back Austin Ekeler ruptured his Achilles. After a training camp contract standoff, wide receiver Terry McLaurin has been unable to stay healthy. Another wideout, Luke McCaffrey, left on the first play of the game against the Seahawks.

But the "Sunday Night Football" result wasn't due to injuries, Quinn said.

"I don't have to ask that question. I know what happened," Quinn said.

He elaborated. Penalties (eight for 87 yards) on both sides of the ball. The lack of stops, as the Seahawks hung 418 net yards on the defense. Washington's offense gained 4.7 yards per play, but Seattle's was going at a 8.7-yard-per-play clip.

"I'm furious," Quinn said of his team's performance.

"Just (an) unacceptable performance ... we missed it by a mile," he added.

And gutted for his quarterback.

The reaction across the Commanders' locker room largely mirrored that of Quinn's.

"It's gut-wrenching," right guard Sam Cosmi told the Washington Post.

*RuPaul's Drag Race* Zoom reunions that could, without question, also pass for the *Mortal Kombat* character selection screen? No more! Angeria Paris VanMicheals joins *EW's BINGE* podcast to dish on the season 14 closer, including the show's first live reunion in three years that the finalist promises will be a dramatic moment where brewing tension comes to a head.

"What you can expect is a lot of unresolved situations between people coming to a head, finally," Angeria explains of the upcoming reunion, set to air Friday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on VH1. "The reunion of course is a moment where everybody gets to address those things they might've known had been said or might've not known. We've all been watching confessionals, so this is the moment for everything to be laid out on the table."

Without naming names, Angeria remembers feeling that things were "left unresolved" between certain cast members when they were eliminated from the competition, and stresses that the reunion "is the moment to come back and say, okay, let's resolve this."

She also says the fact that this is the first live reunion in years adds to the excitement factor: "This isn't a Zoom reunion, girl. No shade to the other seasons. They did what they had to do," she continues. "But we're back, live, sitting with each other and Ru, so it's going to be a lot of fun."

Angeria also teases something else might soon turn red-hot in the future: Her friendship with fellow season 14 finalist Lady Camden. After the adorable duo admitted there might be a mutual crush brewing in the Werk Room when they first laid eyes on each other during the premiere, Camden later promised to take her new friend to San Francisco's BDSM-centric Folsom Street Fair after Angeria's hilariously innocent reaction to finding out that it wasn't just, uh, a street carnival.

"I cannot confirm that this is a Brooke and Vanjie moment. Now, if we are *working* on a Brooke and Vanjie moment, that might be more of something. But, while the show is still going on, I know that myself and Lady for sure are trying to focus on everything when both of us have very busy schedules. Even if that was a thing, I don't think either one of us are able to handle anything that could blossom seriously," she says. "I think I can proudly say that both of us would be open to future possibilities when [we] have a little more of a handle on things. Right now, things are entirely too busy to be thinking about any kind of thing, so until then, she's going to take me to Folsom."

Earlier in the episode, Angeria's fellow RuGirl and friend (as well as former pageant competitor) Silky Nutmeg Ganache joined EW's *Quick Drag* Twitter Spaces to spill her thoughts on the upcoming season 14 finale, recounting how she felt heading into the season 11 finale back in 2019.

"I know each girl is heading into the finale with a different goal. For me, when I went into season 11, to the finale, I knew that I was not going to win season 11. I felt in my heart of hearts.... I didn't think I had a chance at all. My goal going into it was to look as beautiful as possible, and to lose with my grace and my dignity," Silky says, adding that she felt the fandom and perception from the show painted her in an unflattering light. "This season, with them having a top five, I can't even imagine what these girls are going in with. Is it going to be another lip-sync smackdown where they're lip-syncing against each other and it's dwindling? With a bigger cast, it's more stressful for them. If they have self-doubt on top of this stress, I think it's going to show. I hope that no girl feels that way or feel what I felt going into the finale."

Silky previously opened up to EW about the mistreatment she received in the industry (including losing paid gigs) after her time on season 11, which featured sustained depictions of her arguments with other queens — particularly Yvie Oddly, which she says didn't reflect the true reality of the situation.

"I will feel validated when I start to get the roles on television shows or I get my own reality show just like those judges said that I needed," she told EW after her show-stopping domination of the *All Stars 6* lip-sync smackdown, which saw her slay five consecutive lip-sync performances in one episode. "I'm grateful that the fans are doing what they're doing now, but I went back on *All Stars* to excel in my career. Now is the time where I'm hoping that all the people that said, 'We need to see you more,' actually put in the action and aren't afraid to back me up because of the feedback they think they'd get."

Daya Betty's roast of Ross Mathews might've landed with lukewarm reception from the *RuPaul's Drag Race* judges, but that doesn't mean she didn't at least *try* to turn up the heat with her originally planned set of jokes.

Appearing on the latest episode of EW's BINGE podcast, Daya reveals that she cut a few jokes from her routine during the comedy challenge, but promises that some of them remain too controversial to tell.

"I had a whole list of 'Ross Mathews is so gay' jokes. One I had that didn't make the cut was: Ross Mathews is so gay, his favorite moisturizer was Astroglide," Daya recalls, adding with a laugh that others didn't make it past the initial screening process for far more hilarious reasons. "The people in the room that were ok'ing [the jokes] were like, 'Nope, you can't stay that!' I'm not even going to say it here because it's probably way too inappropriate. There was plenty [of] crazier, more inappropriate jokes. I'll just say it was severely inappropriate and there was a reason it was not aired."

She says the challenge also wrapped with an impromptu set from Michelle Visage, which she says the queens thoroughly enjoyed. But, for most of them — including eliminated queen DeJa Skye, who left alongside Jorgeous after they lost a three-way lip-sync against Daya — the roast actually began in the Werk Room as the queens workshopped their material among the sisterhood.

"We kind of used each other as practice dummies. Especially DeJa. DeJa was the best at it. She'd sit down in her little corner and she'd yell out a joke randomly, and we'd all be like, thumbs up, thumbs down, and, let's be honest, they were pretty much all thumbs down," Daya remembers. "You saw the episode, I had some thumbs down myself. It turned into a collaborative effort. I personally was working on my jokes even after makeup. I was still finessing jokes."

The doors Kandy Muse opened for backpack skirts — like the one she wore during her infamous *Untucked* clash with Tamisha Iman — can still be felt on the *RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars 7* runway, and the "Producer" herself has something to say about it.

But before diving into our latest recap of *AS7* on *EW's BINGE* podcast (below), the season 13 runner-up exclusively tells EW how she patched things up with Tamisha at RuPaul's DragCon L.A. last month, following a turbulent period in the costars' relationship throughout most of 2021.

"I wasn't sure how it was going to go between me and Tamisha, because I knew we had to do the queen walk, and we hadn't spoken since the whole blocked-on-Instagram situation," Kandy recalls of lining up to walk the pink carpet atop the main floor at the drag convention. "We were back stage, I looked at her, she looked at me, we just went up to each other, hugged each other and were like, 'Hey girl, how have you been?'"

Tamisha Iman and Kandy Muse

Kandy says fellow cast member Denali then suggested that she stand with Tamisha as the cast hit the carpet, when she remembers Tamisha asking her if they wanted to "walk together" in front of fans for the first time since they publicly butted heads across social media following their iconic argument on *Untucked*.

"I was like, 'Yeah, you know what, you go out there first, pause on the carpet, then I'll go out there and we'll hold hands.' It really was a moment," Kandy says. "For the rest of that weekend, I kept popping back up and she kept popping back up at my booth and [we were] having a good time. We're in the works of working out something together for the future.... absolutely, why not, I think people love the dynamic of me and Tamisha for whatever reason, so, let's make it work. Life is too short. It's not personal, it's just drag!"

Turning her attention to *All Stars 7*, Kandy also says she got a kick out of judge Michelle Visage praising last week's challenge winner Jaida Essence Hall for using bags on her skirt over a year after the season 13 finalist memorably hot-glued a bunch of backpacks to her waist for her ball challenge back in 2021.

"I thought Jaida looked incredible, and when Michelle [asked] who would've thought to put backpacks on a skirt on a ball episode, which is exactly what I did on my ball episode, I was like, hmm, interesting," Kandy says with a laugh, going on to reveal that she had initially begun to construct an entirely different outfit made of plaid acrylic bags, but decided against it at the last minute as she pivoted to the colorful backpack ensemble she created.

She says the look is still in her closet, though the fragile piece is "hanging on by a thread, or by glue," and might only make a comeback if her planned collaboration with Tamisha ever comes to fruition.

Untucked Kandy VH1

Kandy ultimately feels that the *All Stars 7* ball ranks as "cohesively, one of the best balls" in franchise her-story — even with the threat of season 7 winner Violet Chachki booting fan-favorite looks, like she recently did to Raja.

"I think that it's hilarious, I think that people take the opinions of other people way too literal and serious," Kandy says of the drama surrounding Raja getting "booted" on the *Fashion Photo RuView* recap show Violet hosts with season 13's Gottmik. "To me, a boot from Violet Chachki is just a boot from Violet Chachki. It doesn't change or make anything. Fashion, to me, is art, and art is subjective. Some people thought that my alien look was campy, some people hated the alien look, the beauty is behind the beholder's eye — or whatever the saying is."

Since the dawn of the medium, fact-based films have given audiences insight into real events in a personal, visceral fashion. While there are dramatizations, such as 2023's *Society of the Snow*, there are also inventive docu-thrillers like the movies of Paul Greengrass, and epics like *The Irishman* (2019).

Unsurprisingly, Netflix has a treasure trove of movies based on true stories. In addition to original programming, the streamer offers endless options for outside projects that draw inspiration from real events far and wide.

Paul Greengrass, an expert at making fact-based docu-thrillers like *Bloody Sunday* (2002) and *United 93* (2006), helmed this gruesome but riveting account of the deadliest terror attack in Norway's history since WWII: when Anders Behring Breivik (Anders Danielsen Lie) murdered 77 people at a children's summer camp in 2011. Greengrass' harrowing epic, divided into three chapters and chronicling everything from Breivik's massacre to his sentencing, is not an easy watch. Chiwetel Ejiofor directed this lovely adaptation of William Kamkwamba's memoir, chronicling his upbringing as a young African boy who, after being forced to leave his beloved school due to his family's impoverished condition, sets about constructing a windmill that he hopes will save his community from famine.

*The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind* is reminiscent of those wonderful Disney movies from the '60s and '70s which told stories for younger audiences yet still delighted older viewers. Ejiofor's adaptation spins a heartwarming story that doesn't shave off its harder edges but is always entertaining and consistently feel-good. —*D.G.*

Captain Phillips (2013)

Another wonderful, impossibly taut Paul Greengrass thriller, this one charts the 2008 hijacking of the *Maersk Alabama* shipping vessel by Somali pirates. As Captain Richard Phillips (Tom Hanks) works to protect his crew and alert rescuers to their plight, he comes head-to-head with the antagonizers' de facto leader (the astonishing, Oscar-nominated Barkhad Abdi).

One of Greengrass' most assured and textured works, *Captain Phillips* tells a well-known true story with little concession to Hollywood storytelling or dramatic grandstanding. Greengrass is unrivaled at combining professional actors with inexperienced performers and semi-improvised scenarios to create the feeling of actually being present for an unprecedented event. —*D.G.*

Craig Brewer's excellent biopic profiles Rudy Ray Moore (Eddie Murphy), who directed a grindhouse passion project based around a character he created named Dolemite, inadvertently crafting one of the most iconic bad movies of all time in the process.

Brewer's film is a fine-tuned combination of period drama and behind-the-scenes comedy. It's also notable for giving future Oscar winner Da'Vine Joy Randolph her earliest scene-stealing performance; her penultimate scene with Murphy is the film's most radical and moving. In its story of outsiders banding together to fulfill their dreams, the movie is quietly but effectively heartwarming. —*D.G.*

Angelina Jolie directed and co-wrote this adaptation with Loung Ung, based on the latter's memoir about her experiences throughout the Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia during the 1970s. Jolie is a director for whom overstatement is as essential in her craft as camera movement, but here, she tempers her more outrageous instincts and delivers a film that's more powerful for its subdued nature, comfortable in its quietness and content to let audiences fill in some of the more horrific details for themselves. —*D.G.*

There has been a recent trend of docudramas chronicling the creation of iconic brands, including *Air*, *Tetris*, and *BlackBerry* (all, coincidentally, released in 2023). Some are inevitably more interested in delving into the flawed nature of their protagonists, as is the case with *The Founder*, an engrossing biopic centering on businessman Ray Kroc (Michael Keaton) and his ruthless process of seizing the McDonald's brand. Some films are made more disturbing with the knowledge that the events depicted really happened. *The Good Nurse* is one of them. Jessica Chastain stars as Amy Loughren, an ICU nurse who befriends a recently hired nurse named Charles Cullen (Eddie Redmayne). Working the night shift together, Amy is alarmed when one of their patients mysteriously dies, leading to an investigation that suggests the death may have been deliberate — and Charles is the main suspect. John Lee Hancock's forceful procedural does a terrific job of complementing Arthur Penn's 1967 classic *Bonnie and Clyde* without spoiling any of that film's pleasures, wisely keeping Parker and Barrow in the background and telling a different side of the true-crime saga altogether. —*D.G.*

Glen Powell cemented his A-list status with this jovial, fact-based comedy-thriller from director Richard Linklater based on an infamous *Texas Monthly* article about Gary Johnson, a mild-mannered professor who contributed to nearly 70 arrests by posing as a hitman.

*Hit Man* is a terrific showcase for Powell's comedic and leading man talents and one of the most unabashedly fun films Linklater has made in decades. As much as we love a Martin Scorsese gangster epic, part of us hopes he'll never make another after this rigorous epic charting the rise and fall of real-life gangster Frank Sheeran (Robert De Niro), who claims to have had a hand in the disappearance of Jimmy Hoffa (Al Pacino).

Scorsese's picture sidesteps any hint of conspiracy that Hoffa's story typically carries, delivering a somber, lived-in portrait of organized crime members as mid-level businessmen. The film is nearly three and a half hours long but is so packed with history and incident that you'll hardly notice the length. —*D.G.*

David Michôd helmed this highly entertaining historical epic starring Timothée Chalamet as Henry V, Prince of Wales, who is thrown into a dark world of betrayal and violence after inheriting the throne from his assassinated brother.

Michôd's picture is a refreshing entry in the genre, functioning just as well as an action picture as a moody, thoughtful coming-of-age drama with impossibly high stakes. An all-star cast — including Robert Pattinson, Thomasin McKenzie, Lily-Rose Depp, and Ben Mendelsohn — helps the director bring a suitably muddy and brutal image of the 15th century to life. —*D.G.*

Bradley Cooper as Leonard Bernstein in 'Maestro'.

Bradley Cooper stars as Leonard Bernstein in this warts-and-all exploration of the famed composer, which he wrote, directed, and stars in alongside Carey Mulligan as Bernstein's long-suffering wife, Felicia Montealegre.

Cooper's film is much more an examination of Bernstein's marriage than his career, and all the better for it. Rather than run through Bernstein's accomplishments as many biopics would, it isolates incidents from his and Montealegre's life, which inevitably paints a well-rounded portrait of euphoria and sorrow. Mank (2020)

Gary Oldman as Herman J. Mankiewicz in 'Mank'

Gary Oldman as Herman J. Mankiewicz in 'Mank'. Netflix

David Fincher's black-and-white dissection of *Citizen Kane*'s inception stars Gary Oldman as the titular Herman "Mank" Mankiewicz in one of the actor's best (and quietest) later-era roles. Approached by Orson Welles (Tom Burke) to write a script for the young director's magnum opus, *Mank* returns to memories of his aborted friendship with William Randolph Hearst (Charles Dance) and his beloved Marion Davies (a brilliant, Oscar-nominated Amanda Seyfried).

*Mank*, from a long-gestating script by the director's late father, Jack Fincher, is a celebratory exploration of filmmaking. There are moments at which he indulges a satirical cynicism that will be familiar to his fans, but overall he seems to be in unironic awe of the art form to which he's devoted his life. —*D.G.*

Like director Pablo Larraín's previous biopics about famous 20th-century women (2016's *Jackie* and 2021's *Spencer*), this drama about renowned opera singer Maria Callas is less a traditional recounting of her life and more an examination of her damaged psyche. Angelina Jolie stars as Callas in the last seven days before her death, reminiscing about her tumultuous life and career fluctuations. Noah Baumbach's superb portrait of a once-loving marriage in decline, inspired in no small part by his own divorce from Jennifer Jason Leigh, stars Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver as warring spouses who suffer myriad indignities throughout 137 minutes, most notably being forced to relocate to Los Angeles.

Baumbach is a master at crafting highly watchable films around fairly repugnant characters, so it's something of a surprise that *Marriage Story* contains the highest volume of empathetic people in any of his works to date. This is probably Baumbach's least caustic and most heartfelt work, a movie that paints realistic subjects in situations that are authentic, and, at times, harrowing. —*D.G.*
